      SANTA MARGARITA WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION BY-LAWS      
      FOUNDED 1967      
      ARTICLE I:  NAME      
      The name of this organization shall be Santa Margarita Women's Golf Association. This organization  
      shall be referred to as SMWGA in these bylaws.      
      ARTICLE II:  PURPOSE      
  Home Page   The purpose of SMWGA is to promote good fellowship among women members who belong      
      to an organized golf group for women only.  Each member club must lie in close proximity to      
  Member Clubs   the original Santa Margarita land grant.      
    & Information   The organization shall aim toward the best golf etiquette, proper golf attire and a code of      
  Page 2   ethics acceptable to the United States Golf Association.  The business of this organization      
      shall not be carried on for profit.      
  Calendar   ARTICLE III:  ELIGIBILITY      
      Subject to the discretion of the Board of Directors, any golf club supporting a women's golf club    
  Officers &   whose play is governed by USGA rules shall be eligible to apply for membership in SMWGA.      
    Directors   The maximum number of member clubs is to be limited to ten (10). In addition, each member      
      club shall:      
  Membership   1.  Support and maintain a golf course of at least 18 holes.      
    Information   2.  Have facilities suitable and available for the events conducted by the SMWGA.      
      3.  Pay annual dues of $25.00 the first year of membership, and such subsequent annual dues    
  Team   as the SMWGA Board of Directors may prescribe.      
    Information   4.  Charge minimal greens fees for field days.      
  Eligibility List   5.  Have a women's golf club duly organized with its own set of byLaws.      
      6.  Field a team for interclub play, which will be governed by Team Play Rules.      
  By Laws &   ARTICLE IV:  INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP      
    Standing Rules   Any woman in good standing in a member club, 18 years of age or older, and with an established  
      index not exceeding 40.4, shall be eligible for membership upon payment of annual dues as the    
  Field Days   SMWGA Board of Directors may prescribe. There shall be no refund of dues.      
    Information &   ARTICLE V:  GOVERNING BODY      
    Winners   1.  The Governing Body of this organization shall be vested in an SMWGA Board of Directors      
      consisting of two (2) active members from each representative club, to serve a four (4) year term.  
      A SMWGA representative may serve more than four (4) consecutive years if she so desires.      
  Minutes   No elected officers may hold the same office for more than four (4) consecutive years, with      
      the exception of President.  The office of President shall be held for one (1) year only, and shall be  
      rotated among the member clubs.  The President shall have been a member of the Board one (1)  
      year immediately preceding her term of office.      
      2.  There shall be at least nine (9) meetings of the SMWGA Board of Directors during the fiscal year.  
      Each Representative shall be entitled to one (1) vote.  If special meetings are called, the purpose    
      must be stated in advance of the meeting.      
      3.  A quorum shall consist of at least 50% of the members of the Board of Directors.      
      4.  The member clubs shall select two (2) representatives whose terms shall begin in January to  
      serve on the SMWGA Board of Directors.      
      5.  The President at the September board meeting shall appoint the Nominating Committee.  This    
      committee shall be composed of one (1) representative from each member club.  This committee    
      shall inform all clubs of the slate of officers before October 31st.  The new governing board is      
      installed at the first Board of Directors meeting of the calendar year and introduced at the annual    
  Rev. 7/1/07   meeting, held on the first field day of the calendar year.  No nominations shall be accepted from
