      SANTA MARGARITA WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION       
      TEAM RULES AND REGULATIONS - 2010      
             
      The Team Calendar Year is defined as July 1 of the preceding year until June 30 of the team      
      play year.      
      ELIGIBILITY      
      To be eligible for SMWGA team play a player must:      
      1.  Be a paid member of her declared home club;      
  Home Page   2.  Possess a valid USGA handicap;      
      3.  Have played in six (6) competitive rounds sponsored by the women's golf club of her       
  Member Clubs   declared SMWGA home club in the Team Calendar Year of July 1 through June 30 preceding       
      scheduled team play.  Games must be posted within one (1) week of the date played;      
  Calendar   4.  Have played one (1) Field Day in the preceding Team Calendar Year August 1through July 31,      
      excluding the field day on her declared home course.  EXCEPTION:  See 1.B.1. of the Standing       
  Officers &    Rules.      
    Directors   5.  Be a member of Santa Margarita prior to playing the six (6) qualifying Women's Day games.    
      COURSE RESPONSIBILITY & CONDUCT      
  Membership   1.  Team members are reminded that courses have given up revenue and playing time for members    
    Information   of the host club in order to allow SMWGA to conduct team play.        
      2.  All players must conduct themselves according to the highest personal standards of etiquette      
  Team   so as to reflect favorably on SMWGA as an organization.  Incidents of inappropriate behavior      
    Information   that occur during team play shall be resolved by the SMWGA Conduct Subcommittee in       
      in accordance with 1.E. of the Standing Rules.      
  Field Days   3.  Any portable phone or similar device which is used or rings during the stipulated round      
    Information &   (incoming/outgoing call or page) will result in an immediate loss of hole being played for the team      
    Winners   in breach.  Portable phones and devices are allowed to vibrate, but must not be used.  If the cell      
      phone disturbance occurs between the play of two holes, the errant team will lose the next hole      
  By Laws &   to be played.      
    Standing Rules   4.  Rounds must be played within a 4-1/2 hour time frame.  If a group is not on the tee prepared to    
      strike the ball before the group in front has cleared the green, that group is in violation of the speed    
  Minutes   of play regulations for SMWGA team play and shall be asked to move to the next tee, halving the    
      hole.  The group behind will be given one hole to catch up or this group, too, will be asked to       
  Minutes   move forward to the next hole.  The first group will then be timed to insure that no further delays      
      occur.  If any player in the timed group takes more than 40 seconds to play a stroke, that player      
      will be asked to pick up her ball until the next tee and her partner will complete the hole alone.        
      5.  On par threes, if there are two groups waiting to tee off, all eight players shall tee off in order       
      and proceed to the green.  Group number two shall wait until group number one has finished       
      putting, wave up if a group is now waiting on the tee, and then complete putting out.  Waving up       
      shall continue until smooth play is restored.      
      6.  All players must be at the course 45 minutes before the appointed shotgun time.  Captains      
      must turn in all monies due to the Hostess Captain by 30 minutes before the appointed shotgun.      
      (All monies shall be collected in advance of the event and must be paid in cash or, if agreed to in      
      advance by the Hostess Captain, in a single check for the entire amount.)      
      7.  Team captains are responsible for advising and insuring that players tip appropriately for      
      baggage handling and services requested.
