      MINUTES OF SMWGA BOARD MEETING – January 21, 2009 (El Camino)    
         
      The meeting was called to order at 9 a.m. by President Jan Chlebowski/ESC.  Jan introduced all new and returning  
      New members include:  CC:  Dawn Jessee replacing Barbara Bell; MR: Denean Rivera replacing Susanne Ingrao;    
      PEN: Ellie Judge replacing Judy Welker; TO: RaeJean Putnam-Vall & Shyrline Somers replacing Sherri McDaniel;    
  Home Page   SLR - Roxie Stanley replacing Sue Hukari; ML: Lynn Mollet replacing Dawn Jessee.    
      THE MINUTES for the Dec. 3, 2008 meeting stand approved as corrected.  The number of field days changed    
  Member Clubs   from 2 to 2 by a vote in September 2008    
    & Information   TREASURERS REPORT:  Annette Antle/ELC reviewed the list of club members either missing from the    
  Page 2   roster or those who have not paid due for 2009.  The Threasurer's report for the period ending 12/31/08 was     
      distributed by past treasurer Cyndy Simons/ELC.  Balance 11/30/08 = $2,163.96.  Total income for Dec. was    
  Calendar   $3,488.  Total expenses $631.58.  Balance 12/31/08: $5,020.38. PLGA Reserve of $181.44.  Also distributed was    
      the 2008 income/epense summary through November 2008.    
  Officers &    FIELD DAY REPORTS:  Cyndy Simons/ELC reported there wer 42 players attending the ELC Field Day    
    Directors   January 26, 2009.  Lynn Mollet circulated the ML field ay signup sheets to club reps.  The date is February 23,    
      with a closing date of February 17 - no refunds after that date.  The game will be partners' bet ball.  Cost:  $30 -      
  Membership   golf & cart; $20 - lunch; $4 - sweeps.    
    Information   MEMBERSHIP:  Linda Efflandt/LSM reported 3 new members, 3 renewing members, 1 transferring member.    
      New Members: Lyn Reaves/ML; Marsha Dressel/MR; Young-Ja Lee/TO .    
  Team   Renewing Members:  Pauline Henning/ESC; Sanra Watkins/ML; Pam Schott/TO.    
    Information   Transferring Members:  Kathy Dells/ELC (from SLR)    
  Eligibility List   WEBMASTER:  Joyce Goldman said the Minutes from last year will be left on the website for anyone wishing     
      to review them until the current year's minutes are available.  They also mentioned the website address is on    
  By Laws &   the front cover page of the SMWGA handbook.    
    Standing Rules   TEAM MAJOR:  Maggie Brown/ESC reminded reps that she must have some idea of the amount to be    
      charged for team play this year and urged that they please see their Pro Shop to ascertain what that cost will be.    
  Field Days   She would like this done and presented by the next board meeting.    
    Information &   OLD BUSINESS:  Pam Estes/CC inquired about the list of acceptable golf balls as prizes for events.  Kathy    
    Winners   Cates/MR did not have the list but mentioned seeral types:  Nike, Calloway, Crystal; Taylor Made, Srixon soft    
      balls in a green box, and Noodles.  Maggie Brown will send a more complete list by email.    
           
  Minutes   NEW BUSINESS:  Jan Chlebowski/ESC stated that, because most courses are overseeding in October, it     
      might be a good time to think of changing the month the Getaway is held in the future.    
      Pam Estes/CC said that, with the state of the econmy, we may have extended options on prices for the     
      Getaway this year.  Jan also mentioned that it might be reasonable to hold field days on club play days, as     
      clubs do not receive much revenue on those ays.  This might make it more fiscally advantageous when    
      negotiating for better prices.  Linda Efflandt/LSM, referring to winter months when rain may interfere with a    
      with a field day being held as planned, the host club should call club reps no later than 6:30 a.m. in order to alert    
      those attending that play has been cancelled.    
      Kathy Dells/ELC announced she is no longer affiliated with SLR.  She would like to continue as Corresponding    
      Secretary.  A motion was unanimously passed.  Katie Maldonado/PEN advised their club has lost many members-  
      Fallbrook members have voiced interest.  Team parameters were outlined - Join SMWGA, play 3 women's play     
      days at their home course, and participate in 1 field day.    
      Next meeting:  9 a.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2009  LSM Terrace Room.
