SANTA MARGARITA WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
			MINUTES OF SMWGA BOARD MEETING – May 7, 2008 (Lake San Marcos)
			The meeting was called to order at 9 a.m. by President Pam Estes/CC.  Introduced Katie
			Maldonado/PEN rep replacing Sherry Ross.
			The minutes of the April 9 meeting were approved as corrected, adding that checks are due
	Home Page		for both the PEN field day and the Getaway, as indicated on the Calendar.
			TREASURER: Cyndy Simons/ELC stated there was an overrun of costs at Meadow Lake field
	Member Clubs		day - approx. $12, and a possible overrun for Winners Circle - approx. 200, but final figures
	& Information		are not available to date.  The report will be emailed to the board.
	Page 2		FIELD DAY:  Linda Efflandt/LSM said there are approx. 44 players signed up for the LSM field
			day.  San Luis Rey field day - Thursday, June 12, will be Partners Better Ball - $33  golf/cart;
	Calendar		$14 lunch; $4 sweeps = $51.  June 3 is the close date - no refunds after June 4.
			Twin Oaks field day - Monday, July 14.  $40 golf/cart; $14 lunch; $4 sweeps = $58. Game = 2
	Officers &		Best Balls/4some.  Last field day to qualify for team.
	Directors		At Winners Circle, a participant changed position to that of a fellow club member in the same
			4some.  All reps were asked to remind their members of the discord this behavior can cause.
	Membership		1st VICE PRESIDENT:  Jan Chlebowski/ESC presented the results of the Winners Circle - also
	Information		posted on the website.
			CALENDAR:  Judy Welker/PEN asked that clubs operating on a July/June cal. give her
	Team		an update.
	Information		PUBLICITY: Barbara Bell/CC reported Winners Circle results were sent to NC Times, U-T,
	Eligibility List		Road Runner.
			RULES:  Sue Hukari/SLR reported an incorrect score card is not necessarily grounds for
	By Laws &		disqualification:  If hole-by-hole scores are correct but the total is incorrect, the Committee can
	Standing Rules		correct the error, without penalty - Rule 6-6.  However, if a hole score is lower than actual,
			If a player is more than 5 minutes late for a tee time, they may be disqualified - Rules 6 & 33-1
	Field Days		There are exceptions in extraordinary circumstances - Rule 33-7.  In a partners event,  this
	Information &		does not apply.
	Winners		TROPHY:  Kathy Cates/MR presented certs. For Winners Circle.  Trophies will be engraved &
			ready by the May 13 event.  It was reported the issuer of the certs may be filing for bank-
			ruptcy (erroneous).  Discussion followed on safer options.
	Minutes		MEMBERSHIP:  No new members.
			OLD BUSINESS:  Pam Estes/CC and Jan Chlebowski/ESC were commended for their work
			on Winners Circle 2008.
			NEW BUSINESS:  Pam Estes/CC asked reps to please arrived early at meetings in order to take
			care of field day business, etc. before the meeting starts.
			Maggie Brown said team eligibility lists were posted on the website.
			The next meeting will be Wednesday, June 4 - LSMCC Trophy Room.  Checks for San Luis
			Rey field day are do at that time.
			There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:45 a.m.
