SANTA MARGARITA WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
			MINUTES OF SMWGA BOARD MEETING – February 18, 2009 (Meadowlake)
			The meeting was called to order at 9 a.m. by 1st VP, Katie Maldonado/PEN.  Absent:  Jan
			chlebowski/ESC, Joyce Goldman/LSM.
			MINUTES: The Jan. 21 minutes were approved with the following correction:  The ML field day
	Home Page		game is Partner's Better Ball.
			TREASURER:  The January 31 Treasurer's report was distributed by Annette Antle/ELC. Total
	Member Clubs		income $6,911; total expenses $3,174.42.  Operating fund bal.$8,756.95; PLGA res. $181.44.
	& Information		FIELD DAY REPORTS:  June Boerrigter/ML reported 40 attending the 2/23/09 field day.  Pam
	Page 2		Estes/CC, referring to a possible chance of rain that day, asked the cancellation procedure.
			Lynn Mollett/ML said Reps would be called by 6:30 a.m. that day.
	Calendar		Linda Efflandt/LSM announced that their field day on Thursday, March 26, will be 2 BB of
			4some.  Price = $54 (Golf/cart = $35, lunch = $15, sweeps = $4).  There will be no refunds
	Officers &		after 3/18/09.
	Directors		Pam Estes/CC informed all the number of field day sheets to be turned in on board meeting day
			was:  1=Treasurer, 1=Host Club, 1=Tournament Chair, 1=Team Major.  This same amount
	Membership		applies to new/returning members, with the "host club" copy given to the Recording Secretary.
	Information		CORRESPONDING SECRETARY:  Kathy Dells/ELC will send cards to Jan Chlebowski, who
			will undergo surgery and Joyce Goldman, who underwent surgery.  She also sent a letter
	Team		thanking ELC for hosing their field day.
	Information		PUBLICITY CHAIR:  Dawn Jessee/CC sent the ELC field day results to the NC Times and the
	Eligibility List		Valley Center Road Runner.
			MEMBERSHIP CHAIR:  Linda Efflandt/LSM reported 5 new and 2 renewing members:
	By Laws &		New:  Jean Kang/MR; Heliana Tannus/MR, Sunyo Hampton/TO, Christina Finch/TO, Michi
	Standing Rules		Nakamura/TO.  Renewing:  Mary Jo Moore/ML, Jean Knipe/PEN.
			TEAM MAJOR:  Club Reps reported information concerning the $40 price for team play.  Those
	Field Days		who had consulted with their Pro Shop were all favorable for that amount.  Katie Maldonado/PEN
	Information &		disussed a few problems PEN might have due to the course being a military entity with costs
	Winners		that cannot be avoided.  Cyndy Simons/ELC reminded the PEN reps they are to add $5 to their
			field day price to defray any added team costs.  Pam Estes/CC said PEN also has a reserve
			fund. Katie was sure they would be able to stay with the $40 team play requirement.  Maggie
	Minutes		Brown/ESC said all clubs must pay the same price.
			OLD BUSINESS:  Kathy Cates/MR asked if the list of balls to be used as prizes had been
			received.  Answer=yes.
			NEW BUSINESS:  Linda Efflandt/LSM announced that Shyrline Somers is now the only rep
			for TO.  Kathy Dells introduced Teri Stockton, who replaces her as SLR rep.
			To clarify qualification for the Winner's Circle, Maggie Brown/ESC said the timeframe was
			the first field day following Winner's Circle play and continues until the field day preceding
			the next year's Winner's Circle.   Maggie will email a list of eligible winning players plus those
			who may attend but did not win.  Anyone who did not qualify with a field day may do so by
			attending the next field day.  Kathy Cates/MR suggested that the Getaway should be changed
			from October to Spring because of course maintenance issues we have faced.  Kathy Dells
			said there were too many golfing activities locally in the spring - fewer in the fall.  November
			was brought up, but no decision was made.
			The next meeting is Wednesday, March 18, 2009, in the Lake San Marcos Terrace Room.
