SANTA MARGARITA WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
			MINUTES OF SMWGA BOARD MEETING – July 29, 2009 (Pendleton)
			The meeting was called to order at 9:06 a.m. by President Jan Chlebowski/ESC.
			Not in Attendance:  J. Salisbury/CC, B. Wright/ESC, K. Cates/MR, A. Antle/ELC
			Minutes:  The names of players granted 2009 team exemptions at the July 1 meeting were
	Home Page		included - Julia Lily, Marley Bates).  The Minutes were approved as amended.
			Field Day Report:  Due to very low participation, the field day at Pendleton on August 10
	Member Clubs		is cancelled.
	& Information		1st Vice President:  Katie Maldonado/PEN ws pleased to report there will be 156 players
	Page 2		at their nvitational guet day on July 30.
			Corresponding Secretary:  Kathy Dells/ELC will send a thank you to Castle Creek for their
	Calendar		field day on July 9.  She will also send a note to the Pro at Pendleton to thank him for inviting
			SMWGA members to their invitational guest day and congratulate Pendleton on the fantastic
	Officers &		turnout.
	Directors		Calendar Chair:  Joyce Goldman asked that you please send you 2010 Club calendars to her
			when they are available.
	Membership		Rules Chair:  Cyndy Simons/ELC discussed the SMWGA rule prohibiting practice during a
	Information		match (SMWGA Handbook, Page 54, #12).  That rule remains n effect.
			Membership Chair:  Linda Efflandt/LSM reported 1 renewing member-Nancy Serigstad/LSM.
	Team		Webmaster:  Joyce Goldman reported all team information, including eligibility and results, is
	Information		now posted on the website.
	Eligibility List		Team Major:  Lynn Mollet/ML stated pace of play at team events has been unacceptable.
			After lengthy discussion, it was agreed Lynn will send "Pace of Play Guidelines" to all team
	By Laws &		captains in an effort to correct the problem.  This is also posted on the website.  It is strongly
	Standing Rules		recommended that the club hosting team play provide marshals to enforce procedures to
			maintain pace of play at their course.
	Field Days		Old Business - Exemptions:  President Jan Chlebowski/ESC reviewed the approved
	Information &		procedures for requeting an exemption for a player to participate in team play this year.  They
	Winners		are:  (1) The player mut be a member of SMWGA, (2) A letter explaining the reason for
			the exemption must be presented to the SMWGA board for approval, and (3) the exempted
			player will be required to play 2 field days in order to be eligible for team play in 2010.
	Minutes		New Business - Closest to the Pin Prizes:  A motion was approved that the amount of
			the closest to the pin pries for field days will be left to the discretion of the club reps for the
			remainder of 2009.
			Exemptions:  The following team play exemptions were approved:  Nancy Serigstad/LSM
			and Shirlene Sawdley/ESC.
			Lynn Mollet/ML informed the board of the change to GHIN for handicap index processing,
			effective January 1, 2010.  Handicap chair training dates will be in late October.
			There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:10 a.m.  The next meeting
			will be on Wednesday, September 9, 20209.  Checks for the Morgan Run Field Day will be due.
