      MINUTES OF SMWGA BOARD MEETING – July 9, 2008 (Twin Oaks)    
      The memeting was called to urder at 9 a.m. by Pam Estes/CC, President    
      ABSENT:  Cyndy Simons/ELC, Judy Welker/PEN, Joyce Goldman/LSM    
      MINUTES:  The minutes of the June 4, 2008 meeting were approved.    
      FIELD DAYS:  Sheri McDaniel/TO reported they have 76 attending their field day on Monday,    
  Home Page   July 14.  Barbara Bell/CC presented the details for the CC field day on Monday, July 14.    
      Game changed to 2BB/4some.  8 a.m. shotgun.  Lunch=chicken club sandwich, french fries,     
  Member Clubs   slice of melon.  Cost:  $56.  Katie Maldonado/PEN reported their field day is Monday, Sept. 29 -    
    & Information   an 8:30 a.m. shotgun.  The game will be Multiple Best Balls of the 4some.  Cost:  $52.

      1st VICE PRESIDENT:  Jan Chlebowski/ESC is searching for places for the 2009 Winner's    
  Calendar   Circle Tournament.  Katie Maldonado/PEN suggested The Crossings and Maderas.  Jan asked    
      that anyone with a preference to pleas contact her.    
  Officers &    CORRESPONDING SECRETARY:  Dawn Jessee/ML will send a sympathy card to Cyndy    
    Directors   Simons/ELC, whose mother has been in the hospital after sufferig a heart attack.    
      RULES:  Sue Hukari/SLR offered a situation where a player accidentally kicked a pine cone into  
  Membership   a bunker (s)he was in.  Even though the pine cone did not interefere with his intended stance    
    Information   or swing, he picked it up and removed it.  Did he incur a penalty stroke?  Absolutely.  Under    
      Rule 13-4c, the cone is a loose impediment and may not be touched or moved.  The penalty is    
  Team   loss of hole in match plan and 2 strokes in stroke play.  Kathy Cates/MR mentioned a case in    
    Information   U.S. Open play when a player's ball went into a lateral water hazard marked by a red line.     
  Eligibility List    When taking his drop,  he was very close to the red line.  Is this allowed?  Answer:  When    
      dropping under this penalty-stroke situation, you may drop 2 club lengths from the red line plus    
  By Laws &   one more if the ball rolls that distance after being dropped.  Sheri McDaniel/TO said they have a  
    Standing Rules   Par-3 hole with a lake in front of the green necessitating the use of a drop area.  Maggie    
      Brown/ESC, Kathy Cates/MR and Sue Hukari/SLR replied that drop areas are not permitted    
  Field Days   in SMWGA team play matches.    
    Information &   TROPHY:  Kathy Cates/MR referred to a conversation at the last board meeting regarding gift    
    Winners   certificates for Winner's Circle next year.  She asked if gasoline cards were still being     
      considered as the preferential gift.  Pro and condiscussions ensued, causing no final    
      decision.  Kathy will continue to look into this matter.    
  Minutes   MEMBERSHIP:  Linda Efflandt/LSM reported two new members and two renewing member:    
      New:  Heather Eaks/PEN, Krista Mallory/PEN.  Renewing:  Lilly Crouch/ELC, Millie Lee/MR.    
      WEBMASTER:  Pam Estes/CC voiced a request for Joyce Goldman/LSM reminding Publicity    
      Chair Barbara Bell/CC to please forward the results for the TO field day for posting on the site.    
      TEAM MAJOR:  Maggie Brown/ESC announced the first team play is at Morgan Run on July 28.  
      Sheets showing eligibility have been emailed to all reps.  Waivers for players not meeting the    
      requirements for team eligibility due to circumstances beyond their control included:  Kurre    
      Mero/TO (approved with the stipulation that Kurre must play in the CC field day August 7).    
      Letters asking for consideration were accepted for Betty Ferguson/LSM, Pat Brockman/PEN,    
      and Nancy Hill/PEN.  A motion was passed to approve these requests.    
      OLD BUSINESS:  Dawn Jessee/ML asked if the board was aware that the County Classic     
      conflicted with SMWGA team play at Pendleton on August 11.  Maggie Brown/ESC replied    
      that she was aware of it but that it is impossible to get all teams to agree on another date, so
