SANTA MARGARITA WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION    
      STANDING RULES - Page 1 of 3    
      Revised and Effective as of January 24, 2011    
         
         
      1.  TEAM    
  HOME   A.  The President and the Board of directors shall appoint the Team Major.  If no Board member is available,    
      the President will appoint a former team captain as Team Major.  If not a Club Representative, that appointee     
  MEMBER CLUBS   will attend all board meetings without a vote inmatters that come before the Board    
      B.  To be eligible to participate in Santa Margarita Team Play, an SMWGA member must, in the preceding    
  CALENDAR   12 months (July 1 through June 30, defined as the Team Calendar Year):      
      (1)  Have posted on IDC or GHIN six (6) competitive golf rounds (women only events) sponsored by the    
  FIELD DAYS   women's golf club at her declared SMWGA home club.  EXCEPTION:  Any new member (a woman who has    
      not been a member for the past two [2] years) who joins after January 1 may qualify for team after posting on    
  OFFICERS &   GHIN only three (3) competitive rounds (women only events) sponsored by the women's golf club at her    
     DIRECTORS   declared SMWGA home club.    
      (2)  Play at least one (1) field day, excluding the field day played on her own course.  A field     
  MEMBERSHIP   day is defined as a scheduled tournament only for SMWGA members held at a SMWGA member     
      course.  Winners' Circle and the Getaway are not qualifying tournaments.    
  TEAM   C.  Exceptions to the preceding requirements may be granted by the Board of Directors upon presentation of    
      a letter written by the petitioner.    
  BYLAWS &   D.  Transfer of memberships will be allowed if a member moves from one SMWGA club to another after paying    
  STANDING RULES   yearly dues.  In order to be eligible for team play from the new club, the transferring member must complete    
      the required six (6) regular golf rounds on the designated play day of the women's golf club of her new home    
  MINUTES   club as set down in Item B.1.  A member may not count her original home club field day toward team    
      qualification if she played there prior to transfer, but she may count a field day at her new club if it was played    
      prior to the transfer.    
         
      2.  DRESS CODE    
      Members will be required to abide by proper golf dress codes at all SMWGA field days and     
      other events. This is intended to exclude short shorts, halter and tank tops.    
         
      3.  CONDUCT    
      A.  Incidents of inappropriate behavior that occur during field day or tournament play, that cannot be resolved by    
      the Rules Chair and her committee, will be resolved by the SMWGA Conduct Subcommittee consisting of the    
      SMWGA President, Team Major, and Representatives of the clubs involved.    
      B.  Incidents of inappropriate behavior that occur during team play, that cannot be resolved by the Rules Chair    
      and her committee, will be resolved by the SMWGA Conduct Subcommittee consisting of the SMWGA    
      President, Team J aor, and the team captains or representatives appointed by this Subcommittee.  The team    
      captains involved are responsible for informing their SMWGA Club Representatives.    
      C.  Incidents of inappropriate behavior other than involving field days, SMWGA tournaments, or team play will be    
      addressed by the SMWGA Board of Directors.    
         
      4.  HANDICAP RULING    
      The highest allowable index for all SMWGA events cannot exceed the maximum index allowed by USGA.
