MINUTES OF SMWGA BOARD MEETING –June 27, 2007

 

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Kathy Dells, President.  Absent:  Phyllis Skall/MR, Cyndy Simons/ELC.

 

The Minutes for the May 30 meeting were approved.

 

Treasurer’s Report Cyndy Simons was absent.

  

Field Day Report – There are 56 players signed up for the Field Day at San Luis Rey.   Kathy Dells requested all reps to post the Getaway flyer and sign-up sheest at their respective clubs.  Final moneys are due on September 18 and no refunds will be made after September 19.  Cost for the Getaway at Indian Palms Resort November 6-8 is $285.00.  Pam Estes will email all reps with the information about the Field Day at Castle Creek on September 27.

 

Rules Chairman -   In response to a question from Joan Miller, Sue Hukari reiterated that amateur golf players may not play for cash; prizes must be in the form of vouchers or gift cards.  Payment of cash jeopardizes a player’s amateur status.

 

Corresponding Secretary – Dawn Jessee has sent a get well card to Kathy Dells who broke her wrist.

 

Calendar Chair – Judy Welker distributed updates to the calendar, including field day and president rotation.

 

Publicity Chair – Jan Salisbury reported that results of the Lake San Marcos Field Day were published in the Union-Tribune and the North County Times.  A discussion followed to address the importance of field day teams being comprised of players from different clubs, not just according to handicap.  It was agreed that, to the extent possible, reps would make sure that teams are diverse.

 

Membership – Susan Vasterling announced two new members:

 

            Escondido

                                Pauline Henning (new)

                               

                San Luis Rey

                                Monika Connelly (new)

                               

Old Business – Five of the eight clubs have voted “yes” on the amendments to the Bylaws.  The motion to amend the Bylaws has passed.

 

New Business –It was moved and seconded to accept Twin Oaks as a member of Santa Margarita.  The vote to accept them was unanimous. 

 

A discussion took place to clarify the inclusion of alternate team members at team matches.  All teams may bring two alternates to matches; team captains must notify the host team 48 hours prior to play if alternates will be playing; and the alternates will play behind the field.  They may or may not be playing against the opposing team scheduled for that day.

 

            The next meeting is Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. in the Lake San Marcos Trophy Room.  Checks for the Field Day at Castle Creek and the Getaway are due then. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:10a.m.
