| The Santa Margarita Women's Golf Association (SMWGA) was organized in 1967 | ||||||
| Calendar | and was so named because all member clubs were within the borders of the original | |||||
| Spanish Land Grant. It was formed to promote good fellowship among women | ||||||
| Officers & | members of private and semi-private golf clubs within these limits. It now includes | |||||
| Directors | the following clubs: Castle Creek Golf Course, El Camino Country Club, Escondido | |||||
| Country Club, Lake San Marcos Resort and Country Club, Marine Memorial Golf Course, | ||||||
| Membership | Meadow Lake Golf Course, Morgan Run Resort and Club, San Luis Rey Downs | |||||
| Information | Country Club and Twin Oaks Golf Course. | |||||
| Team | Any full 18-hole club member woman golfer in good standing in a member club who | |||||
| Information | is 18 years or older and has an established USGA index is eligible for membership upon | |||||
| Eligibility List | payment of annual dues as decided by the Board of Directors. | |||||
| By Laws & | Each club hosts a Field Day during the year. In addition, a Winners' Tournament | |||||
| Standing Rules | and a two-day "Getaway" Tournament are held at a neutral course. | |||||
| Field Days | Each member club fields a team that competes in inter-club matches during the months | |||||
| Information & | of August through November. At the conclusion of team play, an Awards Luncheon | |||||
| Winners | is held at one of the member clubs in conjunction with their regular field day. | |||||
| The SMWGA governing board consists of two representatives from each member | ||||||
| Minutes | club. The new governing board is installed at the first Board of Directors meeting | |||||
| of the calendar year and introduced at the annual meeting, held on the first field day | ||||||
| of the calendar year. | ||||||
| The Patroness of the organization and an honorary member is Mrs. Alice Margarita | ||||||
| O'Neill Avery, a descendant of one of the original owners of the Santa Margarita | ||||||
| Land Grant. The Founder of SMWGA was June Abernathy Renaud. | ||||||
